Hemodynamics Mechanism

  • ■ Introduction

Our research focuses on developing new evaluation indexes for early diagnosis of cardiovascular disease. Major research tools include simulator using hand-made human heart part and arterial-multi branch models and COMSOL Multi-Physics simulation. We are studying mechanisms that can contribute to Western and Oriental medicine by analyzing pulse waves transmitted along the walls of human blood vessels using two research tools.

  • ■ Cardio-vascular Simulator

The cardio-vascular simulator is composed of a pulse generator that acts as the heart of the human body and a multi-branch model that implements human blood vessels. Various factor conditions are adjusted to analyze changes in the magnitude and shape of the pulse wave as each factor changes. Therefore, through this research process, we analyze pulse waves to develop new indicators that can evaluate the current state of blood vessels in the event of specific cardiovascular state changes and disease.

  • ■ Cardio-vascular Simulation

The COMSOL Simulation is actually used to research in more detail the vascular structure and abnormal lesions of models and various cases that are difficult to implement in the simulator research. The acoustic-structure interaction and fluid-structure interaction physics are mainly used, and research is being conducted focusing on the pressure wave analysis inside blood vessels and vessel walls through various models and variable condition settings.
